Sara started watching the new season of the Great British Baking Show and wanted to discuss some of the interesting baking words that are used that we may not quite be familiar with, along with some great books here at the library.

In addition to the library’s continuing service for homebound patrons, the library will be starting a three-month trial this fall of an additional delivery service, specifically designed for patrons who have difficulty getting to the library, such as those dealing with transportation or mobility issues. Jim Ward gives us the lowdown on what to expect at next week's first MCPL Music Under the Stars featuring the country band Southbound. The concert takes place in the parking lot on Tuesday, Aug. 17th at 7pm. (Doors open at 5:30p) Come down early for line dancing instruction at 6pm!

The 20th Annual NY Asian Film Festival starts this weekend, and if you can't make it to the city, how about creating your very own at home with a great selection of movies we have here at the library in our Foreign Film DVD collection! Sara can get you started with a few of her favorites.

Plus it's the beginning of the month and Nicole is thrilled to once again use her absolute favorite website, Book Riot, to clue us in on our Book Horoscopes for August. Want to check yours out? Click here.

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August. We are pleased to have our colleague and Coordinator of Outreach Services Deborah Hempe here to chat with us about this year's event taking place on Tuesday, August 3rd from 5:30-8:30pm at the Centereach Pool.

The local NNO event is a partnership between the 6th Precinct of the SCPD, Councilman Kevin LaValle at the Town of Brookhaven, and MCPL.
